Welcome to the Gill Tract Community Farm Blog!

Our blog features the voices of community members who share their experiences at the farm, ranging from student interns, volunteers, and educators of all backgrounds.

In Spring 2024, we feature a series of blog posts by our student research interns. For context, each year the Gill Tract Community Farm hosts undergraduate and graduate interns (taking part in the UC Berkeley Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program) and supports them in contributing to research projects, learning about urban agroecology, and becoming an important member of our vibrant community. The current research projects include monarch conservation, compost and California SB1383 policy, and culturally relevant foods. These internships have been made possible through collaborations between core farmers, UC faculty Dr Tim Bowles and Dr Jennifer Sowerwine, StopWaste, the City of Albany, the Xerces Society, Sogorea Te Land Trust, and the National Resource Conservation Service. Check out our student interns' blog posts to learn about their experiences at the farm! Post titles end in "(student intern)" or you can filter by the category "Student Intern Blogs"
